Adults under 50 now comprise 60% of new private golf club memberships

These aren’t your grandfather’s golf clubs anymore but millennial playgrounds with expansive living spaces.

Millennials are reshaping the landscape of leisure and luxury living by flocking to private golf communities across the United States, defying expectations of declining interest in the sport.

The COVID-19 pandemic has sparked a newfound love affair with golf, with 2023 recording the highest number of rounds played in history, according to the National Golf Foundation.

Prime destinations like Barton Creek in Texas and Jennings Mill in Georgia have become magnets for young homebuyers seeking a residence.

Seizing the opportunity, private golf clubs have transformed into lifestyle hubs, offering an array of amenities, including state-of-the-art fitness centers, pools, children’s activities, social events and diverse dining options.

Notably, adults under 50 now comprise 60% of new private golf club memberships, with young adults aged 18 to 34 making up about 30%, according to the National Golf Foundation.
