There is a surge in wealthy Americans prepping for doomsday, especially fearing potential civil unrest or revolution as the November election nears. This has led many to buy luxury bunkers costing up to $200,000 or more.

These bunkers are not just secure but also stylish, with features like granite countertops, oak flooring, bulletproof hatches, escape tunnels and decontamination rooms.

In Kansas, some bunkers come with additional amenities such as swimming pools, gyms, and cocktail lounges. Units vary in size from 950 to 1,846 square feet and cost between $1.3 million and $2.4 million.

Companies like Atlas Survival Shelters and Vivos Group specialize in these upscale underground refuges. Larry Hall, founder of Survival Condo, has reported a surge in interest as the presidential election nears.

A recent YouGov poll, conducted the day after former President Donald Trump’s failed assassination, revealed that 67% of respondents believe the current climate increases the likelihood of political violence, and 79% think the US is “spiraling out of control.”

In addition to bunkers, some individuals are exploring citizenship by investment options in Malta and Caribbean nations. While most do not intend to leave the US permanently, they seek a safety net akin to home insurance against fire.
