Lululemon is going head-to-head against Costco, with a lawsuit claiming the wholesale giant is selling cheaper knockoffs of its pricey athleisure products, including the popular Scuba hoodies, Define jackets and ABC pants.

The lawsuit, filed in California, lists multiple products, including Costco’s $8 Danskin Half-Zip Pullover that allegedly resembles Lululemon’s $118 SCUBA pullover and a $10 Kirkland 5-Pocket Performance Pant that resembles the Canadian brand’s $128 ABC pants.

Lululemon accuses Costco of infringing on its patents and design trademarks. It also argues that Kirkland’s branding blurs consumer perception, leading buyers to believe the products come from the same supplier.

Dupes frenzy
The suit even mentions hashtag LululemonDupes, which is trending on TikTok, as proof that Costco’s knockoffs are thriving off the brand’s fame.

Social media has normalized buying budget-friendly lookalikes of luxury fashion, prompting brands like Lululemon and even Hermes to confront the trend.

Lululemon has previously clashed with Peloton over similar copycat allegations before the two companies struck a partnership. It is now demanding a jury trial, monetary damages, and a halt to Costco’s alleged practice of duping products. Costco hasn’t responded yet.
