China’s Fire-Eye lab raises global concerns

China’s Fire-Eye labs that could detect coronavirus infections and decode human genes were a welcome invention at the height of the COVID-19 global pandemic, but not anymore.

The sophisticated portable labs are raising global concerns since their capabilities extend beyond just virus detection and can decipher the genetic code of humans.

The lab’s creator, BGI Group, also runs China’s National GeneBank.

While BGI insists its purpose is medical screening, Western intelligence scrutinizes its broader implications, fearing that China is aiming to collect global DNA data.

China donated Fire-Eye labs during the pandemic that are in over 20 countries now.
