The leadership change reflects Meta’s efforts to align with the incoming Trump administration
Meta Platforms has appointed Joel Kaplan as its new chief policy executive, replacing Nick Clegg. Kaplan, a former aide to President George W. Bush, has been with Meta since 2011 and is known for his ties to Republicans.
Kaplan was the former White House deputy chief of staff under Bush.
Clegg, a former UK deputy prime minister, joined Meta in 2018 after the Cambridge Analytica scandal and has served as policy chief since 2022.
The leadership change reflects Meta’s efforts to align with the incoming Trump administration.
In recent months, Meta has been positioning itself for a GOP-dominated Washington, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg making public statements supporting Trump and criticizing Biden’s administration on content censorship.
Meta reportedly donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund along with Amazon, Uber and OpenAI.
