Christmas Day was a win-win for the NFL and the NBA, with both leagues drawing massive viewership. The two NFL games and Beyonce’s halftime performance reportedly attracted 65 million US viewers.

According to Nielsen, people tuned in to Netflix for at least one minute, setting records for the most-streamed NFL games in American history. On average, the Ravens-Texans and Chiefs-Steelers games garnered over 24 million viewers each, and the Beyonce Bowl drew 27 million viewers at its peak.
Meanwhile, the NBA saw its best Christmas ratings, with five games averaging 5.25 million viewers per game, a whopping 84% jump from 2023.
One showdown saw LeBron James and Stephen Curry take the hardwood, with the Lakers winning 115-113 over the Warriors. The match alone hit 7.76 million viewers, becoming the most-watched regular-season NBA game since 2018.
The NFL and NBA game viewership numbers show that both leagues have room on Christmas, setting the stage for even bigger battles in 2025.
