Ohio State triumphed in the first expanded College Football Playoff, defeating Notre Dame 34-23 in the national championship game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The victory marks the Buckeyes’ first title since 2014.
It comes in the inaugural season of the 12-team playoff. Despite a crushing late-season loss to Michigan, the Buckeyes dominated the playoffs, outscoring opponents 145-75.
