A traffic stop involving Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill has garnered national attention and criticism after officers forcibly removed the NFL athlete from his vehicle and detained him for nearly 20 minutes before release.
Police body camera footage released Monday shows Hill being pulled over by cops for speeding near the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. He was then forcefully pulled out of the vehicle after refusing to roll down the window immediately and not exiting his car upon request.
The confrontation has sparked controversy. One officer has been placed on administrative duty. According to Hill’s agent, it is unclear why the situation escalated.
The incident occurred just hours before a Dolphins game on Sunday. Hill was released in time for the game, where he scored a touchdown and celebrated with a mock handcuff gesture.
