The US cricket team defeated three-time T20 World Cup finalist and 2009 winner Pakistan at the Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup in Dallas this week, marking the biggest win in US cricket history.

The American team, which mostly has part-time players with day jobs, was playing in the tourney for the first time.

The performance earned the team massive praise. Bowler Saurabh Netravalkar went viral after sports fans came to know he is also a principal engineer at Oracle.

Thursday’s victory is significant as the US is co-hosting the tournament for the first time, along with the West Indies.

Despite the win’s potential to boost cricket’s popularity in the country, the match had low domestic viewership. It wasn’t broadcast and was streamed on unknown platforms. It was held in a 7,000-seater stadium.

What’s next?
The US leads Group A with two group-stage games remaining against India and Ireland. Topping the group would advance them to the Super 8 knockout round. India, another Group A team, will face Pakistan in New York on Sunday.

The league finals aren’t scheduled until June 29.
