The change would let users create a new @gmail.com address, while the old email will remain linked to the account
Google is reportedly launching a feature that will help those stuck with an unprofessional email address they created in high school.
Users will be able to replace their primary Gmail address with a new one in a significant policy shift. The old email address will remain linked to the account. Users will retain all their data, history, and purchases.
Google will gradually roll out the feature.
However, the page mentioning the change is only available in Hindi, indicating the feature may be available for India and other Hindi-speaking regions as of now.
Previously, users could create a new Gmail address and manually transfer their data to it.
There are some restrictions
Users are limited to one change per year and a lifetime maximum of three new addresses.
Google has yet to confirm the rollout officially.
