Microsoft is under scrutiny for its growing influence, bolstered by its partnership with OpenAI and its dominance in cloud services

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has launched a broad antitrust investigation into Microsoft, targeting cloud computing, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity businesses.

The agency has requested detailed information from the company and is reviewing its $650 million deal with AI startup Inflection AI.

The probe reflects the Biden administration’s push to regulate Big Tech before President Joe Biden leaves the White House.

Under Chair Lina Khan, the FTC has aggressively pursued antitrust actions against Big Tech, including lawsuits to block mergers and enforce competition laws.

Microsoft, the world’s third-most-valuable company, is under scrutiny for its growing influence, bolstered by its partnership with OpenAI and its dominance in cloud services (which competitors like Google and Amazon have criticized).

The FTC also launched a separate probe into Uber’s subscription service.
