Brokerage firm and trading app Robinhood announced it is halting overnight trading on the platform due to issues faced by its partner, Blue Ocean ATS, which handles round-the-clock trading for it.
In a post on X (previously Twitter) on Monday, the company said it will process orders placed after approximately 8 PM ET starting at about 4 AM ET the next day.
It’s unclear if this suspension will extend beyond early Tuesday morning or if other brokerages offering overnight trading are affected. Blue Ocean explained that capacity problems caused the issue.
Several other brokerage firms, including Charles Schwab, experienced technical issues yesterday. On the same day, global markets faced a steep decline, with the Dow Jones dropping over 1,000 points and the S&P 500 experiencing its worst day since 2022, reports CNBC.
