Apple added several features to its new iOS 18 update on Monday, which is available to iPhone 15 and newer models, and announced some new products. It also launched Apple Intelligence, an updated Siri, photo clean-up and hearing aid options.
Highlights
The iOS 18.1 has a new AI that can rewrite text, summarize notifications, and delete unwanted objects and people from photos. These tools are available once activated, but there’s a brief waitlist.
The AI feature is only in English and isn’t available in the EU or China yet.
There’s also an updated Siri, which now glows around the screen edges instead of the old colorful ball. You can also type questions instead of talking.
The AirPods Pro 2 update lets users do a hearing test and turn them into hearing aids if needed.
There are new options like call recording with transcripts, better settings in the Control Center, and separate buttons for WiFi, cellular, and Bluetooth.
The tech giant will launch a new MacBook Pro and Mac Mini later this week. A new 24-inch iMac with a powerful M4 chip will arrive on November 8. It is designed for AI and high-level gaming.
Cooler features, like custom emojis and Siri with ChatGPT, are coming in iOS 18.2 in December. A new keyboard, trackpad, and mouse are also on the way.
The tech giant is expected to post its earnings on Thursday.
