Beryl is expected to regain hurricane status as it nears the Texas coastline and peak winds gain strength, forcing the closure of major oil ports, flight cancellations and a warning it would be a deadly storm for communities hit.
Beryl, the earliest Category 5 hurricane on record, has already claimed 11 lives in the Caribbean.
The Hurricane Center predicted Beryl would bring “dangerous storm surge, flash flooding and strong winds to Texas overnight.”
