Salesforce announced Tuesday it has reached a $8 billion deal to acquire AI-powered data management firm Informatica.

The acquisition aims to boost Salesforce’s AI ambitions. CEO Marc Benioff said the data management software company would help his organization’s autonomous agents act with better “intelligence, context, and confidence across every enterprise” through Informatica’s data catalog.

Founded in 1993, Informatica helps companies manage and analyze their data onsite and on the cloud. It has over 5,000 customers ranging from Unilever to Toyota.

Salesforce will pay $25 a share for Informatica, per the agreement. It is the cloud giant’s largest purchase since acquiring Slack in 2021 for $28 billion.
