Norfolk Southern CEO testifies
CEO Alan Shaw apologized in front of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee for the February’s Ohio train derailment.
Hazardous chemicals spilled from the derailed cars and quickly mixed with the air and water sources killing more than 45,000 animals and uprooting the lives of hundreds of East Palestine residents.
Shaw explained the steps the multi-billion dollar corporation took. He said the firm committed more than $21 million to East Palestine and also provided financial support to 4,400 families.
He refrained from talking about paying for the long-term medical costs of residents or the economic damage to East Palestine.
