The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ordered Norfolk Southern to “pay for cleaning up the mess” created due to the train wreck in East Palestine, Ohio, which released chemicals into the environment.

Apart from cleaning up the contaminated soil and water, the federal agency asked Norfolk to reimburse the EPA for its cleaning services. The regulator will focus on long-term recovery efforts.
