American Airlines will provide free high-speed Wi-Fi on its flights, making it one of the last major domestic carriers to offer the service.
Sponsored by AT&T, the in-flight internet will be available to its loyalty members starting next year.
American’s older Boeing wide-bodies won’t offer free access but will still have paid Wi-Fi. It currently charges over $20 per flight for internet service.
Competitors, including JetBlue and Delta, already offer free Wi-Fi to loyalty members. United is outfitting its fleet with Starlink to do the same. Southwest Airlines hasn’t announced similar plans yet.
