United Airlines will require passengers to spend or fly more to attain elite MileagePlus status in 2025, raising thresholds by 20–25% for most status levels.

For instance, to achieve the lowest Premier Silver status, you will have to spend $6,000 on United flights, up from $5,000, as the airline aims to ease congestion in lounges and increase revenue.

United’s loyalty program, which offers perks like priority boarding, free checked bags, seat upgrades and redeemable miles, is crucial to its profits.

Unlike American and Delta, United still requires a minimum number of flights to qualify for its MileagePlus.

Additionally, United will enhance its co-branded credit cards, boosting point accrual rates and offering new ways for top-tier members to redeem PlusPoints, its upgraded currency.
