McDonald’s saw its global sales rise, with the Middle East and Japan reporting 4.1% same-store sales growth

McDonald’s same-store sales in the US fell 1.4% in the last quarter of 2024 as cost-conscious customers spent less per visit and the fast-food chain faced fallout from an E. Coli outbreak.

Q4 revenue was $6.39 billion, slightly below the expected $6.44 billion. The company’s net income dropped 1% to $2.02 billion.

But sales outside the US were stronger, with the Middle East and Japan reporting 4.1% same-store sales growth. The company’s stock rose yesterday on the news.

According to the Wall Street Journal, restaurants so far have posted mixed results for the last quarter of 2024.

Chipotle Mexican Grill, Taco Bell (Yum Brands), and Chili’s (Brinker International) reported increased customer visits, while Starbucks, Pizza Hut and KFC saw declines in their domestic markets.
