Currently, Mississippi has the lowest average gas price at $2.94 per gallon, while California has the highest at $4.93 per gallon

Gas prices are falling across the country, with the national average at $3.44 per gallon on Monday, down 9 cents from last week and 19 cents from a month ago, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA).

Further decline is expected, especially if there are no major disruptions.

Experts attribute the decline to weakened fuel demand, strong supply and stable oil prices. Inflation and the shift towards electric or hybrid vehicles also contribute to the trend.

Additionally, the West Texas Intermediate crude has stayed in the mid $70s price range per barrel, keeping pump prices stable.

Currently, Mississippi has the lowest average gas price at $2.94 per gallon, while California has the highest at $4.93 per gallon.

The Biden administration announced last month that it would release 1 million barrels from reserves to reduce prices ahead of the July 4 holiday and summer travel season.
