The first-person shooter game ‘Concord,’ launched for PS5 and PC, will go offline on September 6|Sony Interactive Entertainment

Sony is pulling the plug on its Concord game less than two weeks after its launch due to poor sales (under 25,000 sold, per analysts’ estimates) and even poorer player participation (peak of only 697 players on Steam, per IGN).

The first-person shooter game, launched for Sony’s PlayStation 5 and PC on August 23, will go offline on September 6. Gamers who purchased it will get a full refund, announced Concord’s director Ryan Ellis in a blog.

The game took Sony and Firewalk Studios eight years and millions of dollars to develop. At $40, it aimed to rival many free-to-play titles like Overwatch and Apex Legends.

Firewalk has hinted at exploring other options, possibly re-releasing the game with a free-to-play model and tweaks.
