The training vessel for Mexican Navy cadets, ARM Cuauhtemoc, slammed into the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday, killing two crew members and injuring 22. The bridge sustained no damage.

The two members were admitted to the hospital in critical condition before passing away. The training ship was carrying 277 people and was going to Iceland. It had stopped at New York’s South Street Seaport before resuming the voyage.

NYPD officials said a mechanical problem with the ship caused the crash. Its masts broke at the top, and crew members hung onto the rigs. The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the incident.
