The state of Minnesota, along with Minneapolis and St. Paul, filed a federal lawsuit Monday seeking to halt a hardline immigration enforcement crackdown. Local officials labeled the operation a “federal invasion.”
The move follows the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent last week.
The complaint argues that the large-scale deployment of more than 2,000 agents violates constitutional protections, including the First Amendment and state sovereignty, and amounts to an unlawful overreach by the federal government.
Homeland Security pledged to send 2,000 more officers, saying the Constitution backs its actions.
