Acclaimed actress Shelley Duvall, known for her role in Stanley Kubrick’s film The Shining and who has acted in several of Robert Altman’s movies, including Nashville, passed away yesterday in her home state, Texas, of diabetes complications. She was 75.
Duvall retired from acting in the 1990s, but in 2023, she returned for a role in the indie horror flick The Forest Hills. She also appeared in the 2016 episode of Dr. Phil, where she addressed her struggle with mental illness. The episode received backlash for sensationalizing her struggles.
