President Joe Biden has vowed a decisive response to the deadly drone attack on a US military base on the Jordan-Syria border on Sunday that claimed the lives of three American troops and left 34 injured.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, backed by Iran, claimed responsibility for the drone attack on Tower 22 base, which deploys around 350 US Army and Air Force personnel.

According to the US Central Command, at least eight service members with shrapnel wounds and traumatic brain and spinal injuries were evacuated.

It is the first time American military personnel have faced direct casualties in the Middle East since the Israel-Hamas war began on October 7.

The situation raises concerns about further escalation in the regional conflict.

Israel accuses UNRAW employees of Hamas ties
Employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) are accused by Israel of involvement in Hamas attacks on October 7. Israel alleges 12 employees played roles in the attacks.

Accusations include kidnapping, distributing ammunition and participating in a kibbutz massacre where 97 Israelis died. UNRWA denies the allegations.

The claims, detailed in a dossier provided to the US government, led to the firing of several UNRWA employees. Eight countries, including America, have suspended some aid payments to the UN organization.
