Protestors, estimated to be over 120,000, flooded the streets of Tel Aviv, Israel, on Saturday, calling on the government to act to secure the release of hostages held by the Hamas militants in Gaza and the removal of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The demonstration, reportedly the largest since October 7, intensifies pressure on the government to adopt a three-phase cease-fire proposal presented by President Joe Biden. It includes hostage release, a six-week cease-fire and Gaza’s reconstruction after Israel’s withdrawals from some areas.
Approximately 120 of the 252 hostages from the October attacks remain captive.
Clashes between protesters and police resulted in two arrests and 14 injuries.
Meanwhile, an aide to Netanyahu said the office has agreed to the US-brokered war-ending plan but called it “not a good deal.”
