During the two-day G20 meeting in Brazil that saw top diplomats from the world’s 20 largest economies, the US faced repeated criticism for opposing an immediate cease-fire in Gaza.

Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira condemned the inaction at the UN Security Council, where the US, for the third time, vetoed a resolution calling for a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken defended America’s stance at G20, citing concerns about leaving Hamas in place to repeat attacks against Israel.

Despite the differences, Blinken continued G20 discussions covering areas such as climate change, labor practices and food security.
