President Donald Trump recently said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is ready to negotiate a ceasefire

After halting military aid, the US has reportedly paused intelligence sharing with Ukraine.

The move reflects US policy shift toward Russia and follows a tense meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Oval Office. Earlier, the US held peace talks with Russia that excluded Kyiv.

Several Democrats argue Trump is empowering Moscow. Senator Mark Warner warned that cutting intelligence aid jeopardizes Ukraine’s defense, and will lead to casualties.

Trump, however, claims his actions are working. In a recent Congress address, he stated that Zelensky is willing to negotiate a ceasefire and sign the US-Ukraine mineral rights deal.

Europe scrambles to support Ukraine
Amid escalating tension, French President Emmanuel Macron asked Europe to prepare to defend Ukraine without US support, urging increased military investment and deterrence against Russia.

Diplomats say France and Britain are finalizing a peace plan to present to the US. Meanwhile, the Netherlands has pledged $3.8 billion for Ukraine aid in 2026.

However, concerns remain. Ukraine fears a ceasefire without strong security guarantees could let Putin’s forces regroup. Defense experts note that 20% of Ukraine remains under Russian occupation.
