The US conducted its fourth missile strike against Houthi militants in Yemen on Wednesday, targeting around 12 sites to counter repeated attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea.

Around 14 Houthi missiles were struck, preventing an imminent threat to international merchant vessels and US ships.

The strikes employed Tomahawk missiles and engaged at least one warship, the USS Carney and a submarine—marking the most extensive US military response since President Joe Biden recently approved multiple strikes.

Earlier, the Houthis attacked a ship in the Gulf of Aden.

The US has also classified the Houthis as “specially designated global terrorists” to impede funding and hold them accountable for actions. Commercial shippers continue to alter their routes to avoid the conflict in the Red Sea.

Meanwhile, in Gaza, shipments of medicine for both Palestinians and Israelis held hostage by Hamas started arriving in the Strip yesterday. The aid is part of a deal brokered by Qatar and France, marking the most significant diplomatic breakthrough since a November hostage exchange.
