Israel’s war cabinet member Benny Gantz’s party submitted a bill to dissolve Parliament, potentially triggering early elections this summer.

The move, seen as a challenge to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, follows Gantz’s ultimatum to leave the government if Netanyahu fails to present a plan to end the Gaza conflict.

Meanwhile, Netanyahu’s Likud party opposes the dissolution, citing security concerns and efforts to free hostages.

Gantz requires support from at least 61 lawmakers to proceed, a threshold that remains uncertain. If approved, elections could take place later this year.
