A seaside town election in the UK is gaining global headlines for a unique main challenger, Count Binface, a trash-can-wearing satirical candidate.
The self-declared intergalactic space warrior is mounting a serious challenge to Reform Party leader Nigel Farage in today’s UK special election. The race is for a Parliament seat representing Clacton-on-Sea, a struggling seaside town about 70 miles from London.
Farage recently stepped down and ran for re-election amid financial allegations, including claims that he failed to disclose a $6.7 million gift from a Thailand-based crypto billionaire.
Binface is a character developed by Oxford-educated comedian Jon Harvey.

Binface has a 10-year history of challenging British prime ministers, including Theresa May, Boris Johnson, Rishi Sunak, and Andy Burnham.
His 20-point manifesto includes surreal proposals such as cutting voters’ taxes while raising everyone else’s, building one affordable home, nationalizing singer Adele, capping croissant prices, and moving a misplaced hand dryer in an Uxbridge pub.
While Farage is projected to win the election, if Binface succeeds, he may have to remove the costume and adjust to business attire per the House of Commons rules.
