The 27-nation European Union voted yesterday to approve retaliatory tariffs in response to President Donald Trump’s previous 25% levies on metals from the EU, including steel and aluminum.

The European Commission had previously said it would act to protect European businesses and consumers.
Meanwhile, Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, welcomed Trump’s temporary pause on the additional 20% “Liberation Day” tariffs he imposed on European nations.
