The UK and France are leading efforts to draft a Ukraine peace plan for President Donald Trump as European leaders work to secure continued military aid and establish a security force in Ukraine.

They are also considering troop deployments if a peace deal is reached.

After the explosive Oval Office meeting Friday between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which went sideways over Zelensky’s insistence on security guarantees for Ukraine, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer hosted nearly 20 allies in London.

He emphasized the need for a “coalition of the willing” to provide military support. Starmer confirmed discussions with Trump, aiming to align the US, Europe and Ukraine on a shared approach.

In hopes to pacify the US, Zelensky even said Sunday that he was ready to sign the minerals deal that was supposed to be ratified on Friday in the White House.

Meanwhile, yesterday, on Face the Nation, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said an economic deal between the US and Ukraine is off the table for now “without a peace deal.” Bessent authored the agreement.
