London prosecutors have dropped indecent assault charges against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, stating there’s “no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.”

The charges, which were authorized by the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in 2022, related to two counts of indecent assault from 1996 against a woman in London.

Weinstein, 72, is currently serving a 16-year sentence in the US for rape and sex crimes convictions in California.

His previous New York conviction was overturned in a controversial 4-3 decision, though a retrial may be possible. He remains convicted of one count in California, which is also under appeal.

Over 100 people have accused Weinstein of misconduct, sparking the global #MeToo movement.
