Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the strikes after Hamas refused to release hostages or accept US proposals to extend a two-month ceasefire
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered airstrikes on Hamas targets across Gaza early Tuesday, killing over 400 people, after ceasefire talks collapsed.
Gaza health officials reported 404 deaths and haven’t mentioned how many were combatants.
Netanyahu ordered the strikes after Hamas refused to release hostages or accept US proposals to extend the truce that has been there for two months.
The attacks targeted Hamas leadership, military commanders and infrastructure. Israel stated that operations would continue and expand beyond airstrikes.
Evacuation orders covered areas near Gaza’s borders, including Beit Hanoun in the north and parts of Khan Younis in the south.
The US was informed in advance, and President Donald Trump approved the operation.
As fighting resumes, hostage families fear for their relatives’ safety, while Hamas blamed Netanyahu for rejecting a ceasefire and putting hostages at risk.
