Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to a temporary pause on attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure after a two-hour phone call with President Donald Trump on Tuesday. However, a ceasefire proposal couldn’t be reached.
The Kremlin said that Putin would signal peace negotiations only if Western nations stopped supplying Ukraine with intelligence and weapons. Meanwhile, Steve Witkoff, Trump’s Middle East envoy, told Fox News that talks for a comprehensive truce will take place between US and Russian officials in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed the development but warned that Russia is still preparing new offensives. He accused Moscow of launching overnight drone attacks on civilian targets, including a hospital in Sumy.
