Britain’s new Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, appointed his government yesterday after Labour’s landslide win and named Rachel Reeves as the country’s first female chancellor, also called finance minister.
Reeves aims to stimulate growth, borrow for investments, and follow strict fiscal rules.
Yvette Cooper was appointed as the home secretary. She has already announced that Labour will scrap the Conservative Party’s plans to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda. David Lammy will be the new foreign secretary.
The new cabinet will meet for the first time today.
