The suspect in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson faces new federal charges of murder through the use of a firearm, two counts of stalking and one count of possession of a firearm, court documents reveal.
The new charges escalate the case after his earlier indictment on state charges, making him eligible for the death penalty.
Mangione, who made his first appearance in a Manhattan courthouse yesterday, did not fight his extradition to New York from Pennsylvania (where he was not charged with murder). He will remain in NY custody.
