News organization CNN is removing 6% of its workforce, ~210 employees, as part of a restructuring plan, shifting focus toward growing its digital audience, CEO Mark Thompson announced in a memo Thursday.
Thompson’s memo also indicated a refreshed lineup of TV programs. The changes aim to address declining cable TV ratings and boost its fortunes amid financial and reputational challenges.

The news broadcaster wants to expand streaming beyond its current CNN Max offering.
However, challenges remain. Its CNN+ subscription streaming service shut down in April 2022, just a month after launching.
