Jeff Bezos is making big changes to The Washington Post’s opinion section, focusing only on personal liberties and free markets. The move caused editorial chief David Shipley to resign.

Posting on X about the shift, Bezos noted that opposing views wouldn’t be featured and any viewpoints against these pillars would need to be published elsewhere.

He emphasized that traditional opinion sections are outdated in the internet era.

Some staffers strongly opposed the shift, calling it an abandonment of journalistic principles, while conservatives praised it. Others fear it threatens the paper’s independence.

The overhaul follows previous controversies, including Bezos blocking former Vice President Kamala Harris’s endorsement, which led to 250,000 subscriber cancellations. The Amazon founder bought The Post in 2013.
