The US Senate on Thursday voted 86-11 to pass the $40 billion aid package to Ukraine as the country enters the 86th day of the war against Russia.

President Joe Biden will now sign the approved bill into law.

The Bipartisan support for Ukraine
With massive bipartisan support, the House voted 368-57 to pass the aid last week, but Senator Rand Paul delayed it, suggesting to include oversight for spending.

The Biden administration had earlier warned that Ukraine funding would run out by May 19 and had requested a quick approval of the package.

A breakdown of the $40 billion aid
According to a fact sheet from the House Appropriations Committee, the massive Ukraine aid will cover the military, humanitarian and economic necessities for the country.

The House allocated $6 billion for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative—including weapons, equipment and logistics support.

The aid provided another $3.8 billion in weapons the US has provided to Ukraine since the war started.

An additional $900 million will aid the Ukrainian refugees and the countries supporting them.
