From April 21, adults in New Jersey can legally procure recreational cannabis, state officials announced Thursday.

The state Cannabis Regulatory Commission will permit seven recreational centers—known as alternative medical centers—with 13 locations across the state.

New Jersey is the 18th state in the US to legalize the sales of recreational cannabis.

Who can get recreational cannabis?
According to the CRC guidelines, registered patients can purchase up to 3.0 ounces of medicinal cannabis once in 30 days. A healthcare provider will authorize the treatment dosage.

Where can you get recreational cannabis in New Jersey?
The state Cannabis Regulatory Commission has approved alternative treatment centers Curaleaf, Verano, GTI, Acreage, TerrAscend, Columbia Care, and Ascend Wellness for legal cannabis sales.

These centers are expected to sell medicinal cannabis at Bellmawr, Edgewater Park, Bloomfield, Paterson, Phillipsburg and Maplewood, Rochelle Park, Elizabeth, Lawrence, Williamstown, and Egg Harbor in New Jersey.

Why April 21?
The treatment centers are not ready to start the sales on April 18 or 19 and want to avoid April 20—known as ‘Weed Day’ in the country. Fearing the drain of supplies, the regulators have set their eyes on next Thursday, April 21, to kick-start the sales.
