Vanced, the popular third-party YouTube Android app that allows users to bypass video ads without a Premium subscription, is set to go offline after legal threats from Google.

Vanced creators informed users to discontinue the app after Google sent the owners a cease and desist letter.

The Vanced owners added that although the app will work for existing Android users, no updates will be made available in the future.

The app shut down is undoubtedly a win for Google and, more importantly, YouTube, which sees over 120 million active users daily.
