The FBI on Friday ended two weeks of national speculation, confirming it was a bullet or a fragment of a bullet that caused former president Donald Trump’s injuries in a failed assassination attempt during a July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Initially, FBI Director Christopher Wray had suggested there might be uncertainty about whether Trump had been hit by a bullet or shrapnel that angered Trump and his supporters and fueled conspiracy theories.

Trump and his former White House doctor, now Congressman Ronny Jackson, stated that a bullet caused a 2 cm wound on Trump’s ear.

The investigation is ongoing.
