Speaking from the Oval Office, President Joe Biden praised Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor|@POTUS|X

President Joe Biden delivered his first speech on Wednesday from the Oval Office since he dropped out of the reelection race and endorsed VP Kamala Harris.

Biden praised Harris as his successor and expressed his dedication to preserving democracy. He stated that “passing the torch” to the next generation was crucial for national unity.

Biden assured that he remains committed to critical issues like gun control, and Supreme Court reforms, as well as NATO, Ukraine, and Gaza. He also said he would continue to work towards lowering costs until the end of his term.

The decision marks the first time in 50 years that an incumbent president has opted not to seek reelection, echoing Lyndon Johnson’s decision in 1968.
