New York Governor Kathy Hochul met with leaders in the Democratic Party to discuss ways to go forward amid NYC Mayor Eric Adams’s corruption charges.

The meeting was to determine if Adams should remain mayor.

Four top officials have resigned in the past few days, raising concerns about the city’s leadership.

The resignations follow a federal bribery and fraud case against Adams. He has denied wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty. Last week, the DOJ filed a motion to dismiss the case, leading to seven federal prosecutors resigning in protest.

Adams, his attorneys, and DOJ prosecutors are set to appear in court to explain the dismissal request.

Meanwhile, Gov. Hochul acknowledged she has the power to remove Adams, but also said overturning voters’ will is a serious decision.

Mayor Adams is resisting pressure to step down and insists his focus remains on NYC’s 8.3 million residents.
