Angel City FC is set to become the world’s most valuable women’s sports franchise ever. The Los Angeles-based team announced yesterday a deal with TV journalist Willow Bay and her husband, Disney CEO Bob Iger, valuing the club at $250 million.

This valuation surpasses the WNBA’s previous leader, the Las Vegas Aces, by $110 million.

The deal includes a significant investment commitment from Bay and Iger, who plan to inject an additional $50 million to support Angel City FC’s operations and growth initiatives.

Founded four years ago, Angel City’s high valuation is attributed to its Los Angeles location, celebrity ownership (including Natalie Portman and Billie Jean King), and strong revenue generation.

The team generated $33 million in revenue last year, the highest revenue of any women’s team in the world, and topped the NWSL in sponsorship, the club said.

Last season, the club boasted the NWSL’s second-highest home-game attendance, averaging 19,756 fans per game.

Despite this milestone, a significant parity gap between women’s and men’s sports leagues persists.
