Canada men’s hockey team beat the US 3–2 in overtime Thursday to take home the first-ever 4 Nations Face-Off hockey championship.
Edmonton Oilers’s Connor McDavid scored the winning goal.
The two countries battled it out on the rink in a title game that was about more than just hockey as the rivalry was charged this time due to the looming threat of a trade war and President Donald Trump’s persistence in making Canada the 51st state.
