Jannik Sinner defeated Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 on Sunday to win his and Italy’s first Wimbledon title after a thrilling 3-hour, four-minute battle.
The 23-year-old Italian ended Alcaraz’s five-match winning streak in their rivalry and denied him a third consecutive Wimbledon crown.
Sinner played a bold game, even hitting a between-the-legs shot on break point.
Despite Alcaraz’s powerful 120-mph serves and fast start, Sinner remained composed and secured the only break in the fourth set to seal the victory. Their Grand Slam final record is now tied at 1-1, setting the stage for a long-standing rivalry reminiscent of Roger Federer vs. Rafael Nadal.
In the women’s final, Iga Swiatek crushed Amanda Anisimova 6-0, 6-0 to claim her first Wimbledon title, sixth Grand Slam overall, and cement her dominance across all surfaces with ruthless, flawless tennis.
